As an arterial system in most mining operations, bulk conveyors must be properly monitored and maintained to avoid costly repairs, time-consuming and unsafe manual inspections, and unplanned downtime that could bring your entire process to a halt. Emerson can help minimize downtime with condition-based monitoring systems and wireless transmitters to continuously monitor critical components and provide safe and cost-effective data collection for continued conveyor operation.
Some components, such as the take-up pulley, are difficult to monitor because they travel as much as 100 feet. Wireless monitoring is ideal for this application, while online systems with tachometer inputs maybe be required for the variable speed operations on other parts of the conveyor.
AMS Asset Monitor manages pervasive sensing while providing prediction, protection and edge process monitoring capabilities, mounting at the asset to reduce cabling requirements and installation costs. It accommodates up to 12 CHARMs including Vibration CHARMs as well as DeltaV CHARMs for process inputs.
AMS Asset Monitor features powerful out-of-the-box software functionality via web browser for analysis, reporting, and alerting. This web-based thin client interface features an internal Logic Studio with pre-programmed application solutions for easy-to-understand analysis and alert reporting, and its Asset Studio interface delivers asset information to the user’s mobile device or desktop thin client.
Although no additional software is required to monitor assets with AMS Asset Monitor, it may be paired with
AMS Machine Workssoftware to deliver real-time updates on assets, perform deeper analysis (as compared to native thin client interface), and deploy from cloud architectures for ultimate scalability. Data from AMS Asset Monitor processed at the edge is provided to AMS Machine Works on demand, on alert or on schedule, and can include waveform data and status information for detailed analysis using the vibration analyzer tool in AMS Machine Works. AMS Asset Monitor can be configured to send overall asset health status and alerts to
AMS Opticsvia OPC UA.
A 16-page ebook, Extract More from Your Operations, features the article, Improved Asset Management Increases Reliability. The article shares how data from asset monitoring systems can be analyzed to create insights for predictive maintenance, and certain assets can be upgraded to dramatically lower total cost of ownership.
read moreIt is easier than ever to store massive amounts of data. The cost of wireless sensing technologies has dropped dramatically, making it much easier to instrument every asset in the plant and ensure that no performance aberration goes unnoticed. However, bringing in all this data carries with it the risk of information floods. If data …
