Branson PPE Manufacturing Solutions
Bringing proven performance, unequaled expertise and versatile technology to material joining applications.
When manufacturers need high-volume nonwoven PPE production, they turn to Branson™ technology for high process speeds and repeatable output. Our ultrasonic welding process can cut, weld and join nonwovens at exceptional speeds. It replaces traditional needle & thread processes, which can leave an egress through the mask, leading to a potential pathogen exposure. Ultrasonics are easy to scale and deploy, from benchtop stations to fully automated process lines.
For protection against infectious pathogens, frontline workers rely on N95 respirators manufactured using multilayer nonwoven fabrics. Branson ultrasonic equipment creates these laminates by cutting and joining multiple layers of spun-bond nonwovens with a middle melt blown or nanotech layer of charged or activated material. Ultrasonics cut and seam mask contours and attach head loop, straps, or punch holes with reinforcement for elastic bands.
Ultrasonic technology rapidly transforms large, wide rolls of nonwoven fabric into surgical masks. First, it cuts and seams wide bands of fabric into narrow strips. Next, the narrow strips are stacked, with an activated filter layer of nonwoven fabric sandwiched between a protective inner and outer layer of spun-bond fabric. Then, the sandwiched layers are cut to size, pleated and rapidly “quilted” together with sturdy ultrasonic welds, which also attach elastic ear-loops or fabric ties.
Branson ultrasonic plastic welding technology offers all of the versatility and speed needed to process plastic materials into lightweight, adjustable face shields. Ultrasonic equipment can cut clear plastic face-shield blanks or headband strips from thin, sheet-formed plastics. Then ultrasonics can directly fuse the materials together or create features for mask assembly or adjustment by precision cutting, hole-punching or plastic swaging.
Manufacturers experiencing substandard welder performance, stoppages, overheating, poor yields, slow cycles times. Emerson offers onsite performance evaluations, troubleshooting and upgrade services for virtually any brand of ultrasonic welder. Following an onsite equipment design review and diagnosis, our experts can recommend and implement compatible upgrades that increase the output of your capital equipment, improve product quality, boost yields, and keep your production process running 24/7
