Michael Tang is senior vice president, secretary and chief legal officer of Emerson. In this role, he is responsible for all legal matters and global security pertaining to Emerson, including corporate governance, M&A, compliance, dispute resolution, and corporate and commercial operational matters. He also is a member of Emerson’s Office of the Chief Executive, which helps develop and guide the company’s global business strategies. 

Tang has more than two decades of extensive legal and leadership experience. Prior to joining Emerson in 2023, he held the role of senior vice president, general counsel and secretary of Agilent Technologies Inc. Before joining Agilent in 2006, Tang served as an associate specializing in corporate and securities at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati and Fenwick & West LLP. 

Tang received his Juris Doctorate from Columbia Law School and holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from The Wharton School of Business. He is an active member of the State Bar of California and serves on the Board of Directors of the Minority Corporate Counsel Association.
