Perspectives: Ideas with Impact
Explore transformative ideas, inspiration and insights from Emerson executives in industrial automation and beyond.
Since its founding in 1890, Emerson has been a company with an eye toward the future. From uncovering and solving the world’s most complex challenges to pioneering technology that revolutionizes the industries we serve, Emerson is focused on driving innovation that leaves the world in a better place than we found it.
A dedicated workforce and consistent pipeline of new talent is critical to a sustained drumbeat of innovation. Protecting this pipeline starts early by planting a seed of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) love in young students and providing opportunities to nurture that interest throughout their academic and professional careers.
Emerson’s “We Love STEM” Days – a cornerstone piece of our “We Love STEM” program – provide students with hands-on opportunities to learn about STEM while carrying out fun activities designed to educate and entertain. Inspiring a love of STEM has gained momentum across the globe:
Emerson has hosted 23 events in 12 countries to reach more than 1,700 students.
Emerson partners with more than 350 institutions – from two-year technical colleges to four-year university programs – to continue building STEM opportunities throughout a student’s educational experience. These partnerships range from the practical to the fantastical, including a longtime competition to design compressed-air-powered vehicles in Hungary.
Now in its 13th year, Emerson’s International AVENTICS Pneumobile Competition donates and invites teams of engineers to use Emerson’s AVENTICS pneumatics components, programmable logic controllers and edge gateways from Emerson’s Machine Automation Solutions to design these futuristic vehicles. This competition provides a fun glimpse to working as an engineer; in fact, several past participants now work at Emerson.
