Increase Distillation Efficiency with Accurate Level Measurement
Reflux refers to the portion of the overhead liquid product from a distillation column that is returned to the upper part of the column. Inside the column, the downflowing reflux liquid provides cooling and condensation of the upflowing vapors, thereby increasing the efficiency of the distillation column. The recommended solution to measure level in the reflux drum is installing a guided wave radar level transmitter inside a bypass chamber, bridle or cage, for continuous level measurement. This solution can be combined with installing point level switches to add high and low level alarm points.
