Optimizing the Steam to Carbon Ratio in the Steam Methane Reformer for Blue Hydrogen
Extend catalyst life, improve energy efficiency and increase safety
Changing feed gas quality for blue hydrogen production alters the optimal steam-to-carbon (S/C) ratio in the reformer reactor. Measuring the SMR feed with Micro Motion mass flow meters allows closer operation to the target S/C molar ratio since the mass ratio aligns more closely with the molar ratio than the volumetric ratio does. Targeting the optimal S/C ratio extends the catalyst life and cuts energy costs.
